One fan recreates Rihanna's British Vogue cover and Twitter can't get enough

Last week Rihanna made waves with the announcement of British Vogue’s September cover. Rocking pin-thin eyebrows, the performer is the first black woman to be featured on the cover of the fashion bible‘s September issue and one makeup artist felt so inspired she recreated the iconic cover.

The release brought an onslaught of discussion around Rihanna‘s retro brows and a potential resurgence of thin eyebrows.

Atlanta Makeup Artist Ariel Thomas, who goes by Jay Thomas online, shared her take on the British Vogue cover and Twitter can’t get enough of it.

“Inspired by @rihanna‘s @BritishVogue shoot! When I saw this I couldn’t help but try to recreate!” she wrote.

Listing Rihanna’s own Fenty beauty line as one of the products used in the look, Thomas admits preparation for the shoot took her into the early morning hours after seeing the cover reveal. Going directly to her local craft store, she told Teen Vogue she enlisted her sister to help create the perfect flower crown.

“It wasn’t very difficult to do but covering my eyebrows was a task,” she said. “I bought a headband, the fake flowers, and a yard of tulle. My little sister helped as a model while I created the crown of flowers on her head and the tulle was pretty simple, I just tied it into a bow.”

Using makeup products from Norvina, Colourpop and Beauty Bakerie, the makeup artist admits completing the look left her feeling proud.

“I felt so accomplished when I had finished and then reviewed the shots I got,” said said.

Twitter is also impressed with Thomas’s rendition of the look – with some even saying they like the makeup artist’s look more than Rihanna’s.

While Rihanna has yet to comment on the shoot, Thomas is hopeful the celebrity will notice her effort.

“If Rihanna saw my post I would probably cry a little bit, no lie… That would be amazing.”
