Who these Olympics athletes are dating

The upcoming 2020 Summer Olympics happening in Tokyo, Japan is off to a great start and frankly, we’re excited that the games can continue in these unprecedented times — even with some social distancing rules in place.

To celebrate the upcoming games, we’ve put together a list of the celebrity athletes and who they’re dating that you ought to look out for:

1. Simone Biles

Country: United States

Sport: Gymnastics

Quite possibly the most famous and decorated athlete on this list, Biles is the U.S.’ gymnastic poster child. Don’t believe us? The Olympic gold medalist has 4.2 million followers on Instagram and several sponsorship deals, including one with Nike.

With a combined total of 30 Olympic and World Championship medals, Biles is a force to be reckoned with as she competes in several individual events at the games.

Biles is currently dating fellow athlete and American NFL player, Jonathan Owens. To celebrate her qualifying for the 2020 Summer Olympics, Owens posted a lovely photo showing how proud he was of her on Instagram.

2. Megan Rapinoe

Country: United States

Sport: Soccer

American soccer star Megan Rapinoe is currently engaged to fellow Olympic athlete Sue Bird. Bird is a basketball player for the Seattle Storm.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Rapinoe has long been vocal about her activism, philanthropy and views on U.S. politics.

Most recently, Rapinoe made headlines for her open use of cannabis at the Tokyo Olympics.

3. Kevin Durant

Country: United States

Sport: Basketball

Durant is a staple name in U.S. basketball. The Brooklyn Nets player has often been called the best player in the NBA for his scoring abilities.

Beyond basketball, Durant has ventured into writing, photography, and even acting.

While it’s currently unclear who he’s dating, Durant was engaged to basketballer Monica Wright, and has been linked to several women in recent years including adult film star Lana Rhoades.

4. Farah Ann Abdul Hadi

Country: Malaysia

Sport: Artistic Gymnastics

Making her Olympic debut this year is Malaysian gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi. The 27-year-old is the third Malaysian gymnast to ever qualify for the Olympics. Farah is also the sister of ex-national synchronised swimmer Katrina Ann Hadi.

Farah is currently dating actor Brian Chan who was in the Malaysian musical OlaBola The Musical. The couple often posts the most adorable photos of themselves on Instagram.

5. Devin Booker

Country: United States

Sport: Basketball

Booker gained popularity when news broke that he’s currently dating former reality TV star and model, Kendall Jenner. In 2019, Booker became the youngest player in the history of the National Basketball Association to score consecutive 50-point games, making him one of the most talented players.

The Phoenix Suns player will join the 12-man U.S basketball team at the Olympics.

6. Joseph Schooling

Country: Singapore

Sport: Swimming

Schooling won Singapore’s first ever Olympic gold medal back at the Rio Olympics 2016 and since then, he’s been a household name in the country.

At the 2016 Olympics, Schooling set the record of 50.39 seconds in the 100m butterfly — breaking the record of swimming legend Michael Phelps. With almost two decades in the pool, Schooling recently revealed that the upcoming Olympics might be his swansong to Hong Kong Tatler.

Still, Schooling’s legacy will live on with his swim school, Swim Schooling.

7. Naomi Osaka

Country: Japan

Sport: Tennis

The professional tennis player is ranked number one by the Women’s Tennis Association and is the first Asian player to hold the ranking in the singles category. Osaka famously beat tennis legend Serena Williams in a match at the Australian Open, making her a force to be reckoned with.

Besides sporting success, Osaka is one of the most marketable tennis athletes to date and has a remarkable amount of sponsorship deals with the likes of Nike, Yonex and Mastercard.

The Japanese athlete is currently dating rapper Cordae. The rapper has been a vocal supporter of the Black Lives Matter movement, and was even arrested at the Breonna Taylor protest in Louisville, Kentucky.

8. Welson Sim

Country: Malaysia

Sport: Swimming

The heartthrob made headlines as Malaysia’s first swimmer to qualify for two Category A events at the Olympics.

It was also shared that Sim is competing while nursing a broken arm. While it’s unclear if the 24-year-old is currently seeing anyone, we know he’s extremely shy when meeting girls he finds attractive, as stated on this Instagram photo.

9. Tom Daley

Country: United Kingdom

Sport: Diving

Daley made his Olympics debut at the age of 14, where he was the United Kingdom’s youngest participant.

In 2013, Daley came out publicly when he released a YouTube video announcing that he has been in a relationship with a man since early that year. In 2017, Daley married director and screenwriter Dustin Lance Black. Black famously wrote the screenplay for the Harvey Milk biopic, Milk.

10. Lee Dae-hoon

Country: South Korea

Sport: Taekwondo

The Tokyo Summer Olympics will be Lee’s final event as he announced that he’ll be retiring from taekwondo.

The 29-year-old, who has three world champion titles, is married to Ahn Yu-shin. The couple has an adorable son, and Lee often posts the cutest photos of him on Instagram. It’s unclear how Lee and Ahn met but what we do know is that the duo got married in March 2019.
