Olivia Colman had a difficult time getting into shape for The Crown after packing on the pounds for her Oscar-winning role in The Favourite.
The British actress gained weight for her portrayal of Queen Anne in the period drama and insists she "probably" will not undertake the challenge again as she struggled to get back to her slender form ahead of the royal drama, in which she stars as Queen Elizabeth II.
"I had to put on a lot of weight for Queen Anne in The Favourite but I had to lose a lot of weight for this," she told OK! Magazine of her performance on The Crown.
And she clarified that she was the one suggesting she should lose a few pounds, not the series' producers.
"Well, I didn't have to, because everyone was very polite and nice, but I said, 'I need to lose weight.' They were very sweet and supportive about it," the 45-year-old shared. "It would have felt a bit wrong to play Queen Elizabeth II as the same size as Queen Anne. I probably wouldn't say yes to putting on weight again for a job because it's been very difficult to lose."
The star also revealed that she had a bit too much fun playing the stern-faced monarch on the show.
"Well, I'm not supposed to smile as much as I do, that was fun," she laughed.
Colman takes over from Claire Foy as The Queen in the third season of the Netflix hit - set between 1964 and 1977 - which begins streaming on 17 November.
Helena Bonham Carter, Tobias Menzies, Josh O'Connor, and Charles Dance also appear on the show.
