Official date revealed for Tony Awards 2017 event

An official date has been set for the 71st annual Tony Awards, with the event to take place on Sunday, June 11, 2017.

The awards will be broadcast live from New York City, beginning at 8 PM ET on CBS TV, which has broadcast the annual event since 1978, with a location for the ceremony yet to be announced.

The official Tony eligibility cut-off date for all Broadway productions opening in the 2016-2017 season will be April 27, 2017, with nominations for the awards to be announced live on May 2, 2017.

The Tony Awards are presented by The Broadway League and the American Theatre Wing.
