"Oda Sa Wala" receives multiple nominations at Malaysian awards

21 Jun – Pokwang's new movie, "Oda Sa Wala" has recently received multiple nominations at the upcoming third edition of the Malaysian Golden Global Awards (MGGA).

As reported on ABS-CBN, the Black Sheep production, which stars the comedienne as an old maid who owns a funeral shop, has been nominated in several categories including Best Director for Dwein Baltazar, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Film.

The awards also named Pokwang as nominee in the Best Actress category, while co-star Joonee Gamba is nominated Best Supporting Actor.

Pokwang (nominated under the name Marietta Subong) will be facing competition from the likes of Korean actress Park Ji-hu ("House of Hummingbird"), Indonesia's Raihaanun Soeriaatmadja ("27 Steps of May"), Iranian star Sara Bahrami ("Axing"), as well as fellow Filipina Glaiza de Castro ("Liway").

"Oda Sa Wala" (or "Ode to Nothing") previously won Best Film at the 2018 QCinema International Film Festival.
