Barack Obama has joined the many voices wishing Prince Harry and Meghan Markle a happy engagement. The former president, publicly shared a message for the couple on Twitter this afternoon.

"Michelle and I are delighted to congratulate Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on their engagement," he tweeted. "We wish you a lifetime of joy and happiness together."

The former Commander-in-Chief and British royal have continued their international bromance even after the Obamas left the White House. In May, the former POTUS visited Harry in Kensington Palace during a trip to the U.K.

Then, months later, he stopped by the prince's Invictus Games in Toronto (Markle's hometown), along with Joe and Dr. Jill Biden. Obama even grilled Harry about Meghan while they watched a basketball game together.

And just last month the royal visited the former First Couple's home city of Chicago, where he surprised students at a local school with Michelle and spoke at the inaugural Obama Foundation Summit.

We hope their ongoing friendship is a sign that the Obamas will be invited to royal wedding when Harry and Markle tie the knot next spring. Fans of the former first couple are already hoping they'll make an appearance. Some are even hoping they get invited instead of the current president and first lady.
