Norris Wong denies "Prince Edward" poster has political connotation

4 May – "My Prince Edward" director Norris Wong has recently dismissed allegations that one of the posters for her said movie was political in nature.

As reported on Mingpao, the said poster which depicted a woman in a wedding dress with a machine gun in one hand and a pistol in another while wearing a gas mask as she stood at the Golden Plaza near the Prince Edward MTR Station, has recently reminded people of the anti-extradition protest of last year.

When asked about it, Norris said that it had nothing to do with politics and was coincidental in nature, as it was created back in 2018 when she participated in the Hong Kong First Feature Film Initiative.

"I grew up in the Prince Edward District, and my house was exactly across the street from the Golden Plaza. I used to walk past the shopping centre's bridal shops and looked at the beautiful gowns," she said.

Norris said that she used to fantasise about her own marriage when she was younger, but has now understood the reality of marriage.

"It is not as simple as wearing a wedding gown. I've heard of people arguing with their boyfriends or future in-laws about trivial things. Conflicts even arise in families. So, my original intent was to say that a woman's marriage is like a hard fought battle," she said.

Norris stated that the poster was just a concept art, and that the movie will officially use a different poster featuring lead actress Stephy Tang instead.
