Fashion giant Nordstrom is bringing its ‘Nordstrom Local' concept to New York City.
The department store opened the doors to its brand-new Nordstrom Local Upper East Side store this week, and it plans to welcome shoppers to Nordstrom Local West Village from September 27. The new locations join a growing portfolio of Nordstrom Local stores in the Californian locales of Melrose, Brentwood and downtown Los Angeles.
"We've learned a lot from our customers since opening our first Nordstrom Local on Melrose in Los Angeles in Fall of 2017," said Shea Jensen, senior vice president of customer experience, in a statement. "Customers who visit a Nordstrom Local spend 2.5 times more and account for 30 percent of online order pick-up in Los Angeles. We're excited to introduce Nordstrom Local to our customers in New York City as we serve them in our two newest locations."
Nordstrom Local stores focus on service rather than stock, offering a place for shoppers to collect and return online purchases, as well as access a range of styling and alterations services. The New York locations will also provide repairs for shoes, handbags and small leather goods, and the company has teamed up with the organization Housing Works to allow people to donate gently-used fashion pieces via the stores.
