Nonnative’s Suede and Gore-Tex Asics Sneaker Is Your Fall Ideal

More from Footwear News

Japanese label Nonnative is partnering with its country’s top sneaker brand for an exemplary fall sneaker.

The Nonnative x Asics Gel-Terrain adds a Gore-Tex membrane alongside an earth-toned, suede-overlaid upper. Dark and light shades of brown dress the entirety of the entire sneaker, which includes shaggy suede overlays for the Tiger Stripes motif and toe tip. Forest green detailing with a grey tint then appear throughout the upper, including piping, eyelets and dual-branding on the heel. Gore-Tex waterproofing also ensures the sneaker will be just as functional in fall as it is fashionable.

Nonnative and Asics last collaborated on a pair of combat boots in 2020, adding new colorways and Gore-Tex to their transformed Gel-YetiTokyo boot that they’d debuted in 2018. Earthy browns form a through-line for their collaborations, as well as Nonnative’s previous efforts with New Balance prior to partnering with Asics.

The Gel-Terrain doesn’t typically belie its trail bonafides as much as it does for the Nonnative edition. The Gel-Fujitrabuco-inspired sneaker with tooling borrowed from the GT-2000 combines Flytefoam and Gel cushioning underfoot to go along with a treaded outsole. Its upper is also typically made out of mesh with no-sew TPU film overlays locking down the foot.

So far, the Nonnative x Asics Gel-Terrain has only been confirmed to release Saturday, October 19, through Japanese channel’s including the two brand’s websites, as well as Coverchord and Kith Tokyo. Proxy service could get the sneakers stateside, though, and a U.S. release could also follow. Pricing has not yet been announced.
