‘Nocturnal Animals’ Trailer Shows Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal’s Love Gone Wrong

“You look beautiful, as always,” Jake Gyllenhaal tells Amy Adams as their divorced characters reconnect in the ominous official trailer for Tom Ford’s thriller “Nocturnal Animals.”

“Do you know that you were my first crush?” Gyllenhaal asks her on a windy night outdoors. “You were my first crush, too,” she admits.

But the narrative descends into a story of betrayal and revenge as Adams later says, “I did something horrible to him. I left him in a brutal way.”

It’s not specified what she did, but an angry Gyllenhaal later tells Adams, “When you love someone, you have to be careful.”

“Nocturnal Animals” won the grand jury prize at the Venice International Film Festival. The movie, adapted by Ford from Austin Wright’s novel “Tony and Susan,” also stars Michael Shannon, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Isla Fisher, Karl Glusman, Armie Hammer, Laura Linney, Andrea Riseborough, and Michael Sheen.

Focus Features opens “Nocturnal Animals” in select theaters on Nov. 18 and expands to theaters nationwide on Dec. 9.
