'No Time To Die': Rami Malek introduces his 'unsettling' Bond villain Safin in new video
Oscar-winner Rami Malek has introduced his Bond villain Safin in a new promo video for No Time To Die, Daniel Craig’s final 007 film.
“What I really wanted from Safin was to make him unsettling,” the Bohemian Rhapsody star explains in the new clip, “thinking of himself as being heroic”
The new video for the blockbuster film, which hits cinemas on 12 November, shows Safin threatening Léa Seydoux’s Madeleine Swann: “I’m a man willing to kill the person you love most.”
“What he wants and what he’s willing to do,” adds director Cary Joji Fukunaga, “makes him a very frightening character, both personally to Bond but also on a global level.”

What Safin’s motives or plans are remain unknown, but one shot in the trailer shows scores of people in hazmat suits attending to something in a tunnel. “We both eradicate people,” Safin says, suggesting a biochemical or nuclear threat on a global scale.
“Safin is a formidable adversary,” adds Malek. “James Bond has to adapt to that.”

In a previous featurette for the film, Fukunaga said Safin represented Bond’s biggest challenge yet.
"The people close to Bond, those he considers to be family, are at great risk and now there is someone new out there, more dangerous than anyone he has ever encountered, and whoever they are is smarter and and stronger than Spectre.
"From the moment he's called to action to the end of the film is a race, not only to save the world but their lives.
"No Time To Die is a culmination of all that Bond has become, it's all that he's seen, all the trauma, the loss.
"What is that mission, that will be his most challenging and his most difficult? That was our target. We aim to do something extraordinary with this one.
"Every Bond film has that thing, the danger but also the emotional punch. Everything that was left unsaid will finally be said. This will be the final chapter for Daniel Craig."
No Time To Die finds Daniel Craig’s James Bond retired from active service. However, he’s drawn out of retirement by Jeffrey Wright’s Felix Leiter who is on the trail of a kidnapped scientist.
The film, from Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro Goldwyn Mayer Studios (MGM), and Universal Pictures International was written by Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (Spectre, Skyfall), Fukunaga, Scott Z. Burns (Contagion, The Bourne Ultimatum) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Killing Eve, Fleabag).
