No live event for Top 10 Chinese Gold Songs Awards

26 Oct – Despite rumours that music awards in Hong Kong will be holding its events live again after going online last year due to the pandemic, RTHK recently revealed that they have decided not to risk it for the sake of everybody's wellbeing and safety.

As reported on Mingpao, Radio Television Hong Kong, which hosts the annual Top 10 Chinese Gold Songs Awards, recently announced that it will continue last year's practice of announcing its results in a cross media special format for the 43rd edition of its annual event.

The said result, which will be revealed in January next year, will instead be broadcast on RTHK Channel 31 as well as its radio station and website. Many singers including AGA, Pakho Chau, as well as Alfred Hui have been invited to participate in the event.

On the other hand, it will also make several changes to this year's awards including removing several categories including "Top Ten Excellent Singers" and "The Most Excellent Pop Singer".

As for its theme this year, RTHK said that they have decided on "Music Speaks" - expressing how musicians persisted with creating new songs and protecting Chinese pop music despite being under the pandemic.
