Nikki Valdez expresses frustration over the Duterte Administration
28 Jul – Nikki Valdez seems to be regretting her decision to vote for President Rodrigo Duterte in the 2016 Presidential Election, seeing how the country turned out to be four years into his administration.
As reported on Inquirer, the actress posted a long message on social media, saying that she was one of the voters who supported Duterte in his campaign, thinking that he will become a voice to the marginalised after he promised to help the poor.
"We saw your simplicity that even if you are the president, the people can reach you. We saw your political will," she pointed out.
However, Valdez stated that she now questions the President's way of governing and morality, and noted how he had cursed at the Pope, is disrespectful to women, and prioritised his revenge over everything else.
She also questioned some of the decisions and subjects that President Duterte were more focused on during the pandemic, including the Ati-Terror Bill and the closure of ABS-CBN instead of other important issues.
"Is this your plan for the Philippines? What will you say tomorrow? It's just a joke?" she added.
