Nicole Scherzinger lands major West End role in Sunset Boulevard
Nicole Scherzinger will star as Norma Desmond in a major new West End production of Sunset Boulevard.
Inspired by the 1950 film of the same name, the musical features songs by Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber, and first opened in the West End 30 years ago.
Norma is a silent film star whose career is fading, and she teams up with an eager young screenwriter named Joe Gillis as both seek to reach the heights of Hollywood fame.
Jamie Lloyd will direct the production, which will have a strictly limited 16-week run starting in September at the Savoy Theatre in central London. Tickets are expected to go on sale next month, and further information is available here.

During his career, Lloyd has worked on the stage with film and TV stars including James McAvoy, Emilia Clarke, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Zawe Ashton and Claire Foy.
He said: "After our reappraisal of Evita at the Open Air Theatre, Regent's Park, I'm very excited to rediscover another iconic Lloyd Webber musical – and Sunset Boulevard is one of his most thrilling, complex and atmospheric scores.
"We are so fortunate to have the opportunity to create a new production of this fascinating piece with the extraordinary Nicole Scherzinger."
Lloyd Webber added: "Nicole is one of the finest singers I have worked with, and I can’t wait to get started on this exciting show with her and the rest of this brilliant team."
Best known as a member of the Pussycat Dolls, Scherzinger's career spans TV, film and theatre. She has been a judge on The X Factor on both sides of the Atlantic, and currently sits on the panel of The Masked Singer in the US.
Her West End debut in 2014 as Grizabella in Cats earned her an Olivier Award nomination.
The original London production of Sunset Boulevard starred Patti LuPone as Norma, while Glenn Close has also played the character on Broadway and, in a semi-staged 2016 production, on the West End.
Also coming up at the Savoy Theatre this summer is an extension to A Little Life, the play based on Hanya Yanagihara's Booker Prize-nominated novel.
Starring Happy Valley's James Norton with It's a Sin's Omari Douglas, Bridgerton's Luke Thompson and The Witcher's Zach Wyatt, A Little Life will transfer from the Harold Pinter Theatre for shows throughout July and into early August.
