In late September, Nicki Minaj gave birth to her first child, a son, with husband Kenneth Petty. Since then, Minaj has stayed quiet about motherhood and kept details and photos of her baby offline. But, on November 6th, Minaj did give fans a few updates, including her currently hemming and hawing about potentially hiring a nanny.

One Barbz fan tweeted on November 6th, "why nicki can't be a normal celebrity and get a nanny. girl I miss you." Minaj retweeted the comment and added, "Everyone tells me that. Lol. I rlly should get one. Difficult decision tho."

The fan was referring to Minaj's break from the music industry since she gave birth—a break that Minaj once threatened in 2019 could be permanent. She later clarified to Billboard, "I love music and interacting with fans, so I can’t really see taking myself completely away," noting that she does see herself exploring other avenues in life outside of the music industry.

As of right now, it doesn't seem like Minaj is in any rush to get back in the music game. Her son won't let her, she joked on Twitter.

"Last night I tried to tweet while I was feeding him. He looked @ me & said 'absolutely TF NOT,'" she tweeted shortly after her last post. "He wants his undivided attention chile."

Motherhood was always something Minaj talked about wanting, and now that she has it, she has no problem reveling in the light it brings to her life. In late October, Minaj shared a photo of her son's tiny foot with the caption, "Happy Anniversary, my love," and judging by the look of that foot alone, we wouldn't want to be apart from such a cute little person for that long, either.

Perhaps one day Minaj will hire a nanny and start making music again. But, for now, "nephew," as the fans call him, takes precedent. And Minaj can't wait until he finally meets the Barbz.

"He's prob gonna be so confused at first," she wrote. "Like why yall so loud? That lady ain't nobody she just my mommy." Oh, little nephew. You have so much to learn.
