Nick Nolte Rips Ronald Reagan: Not a Good President, ‘A Bad Actor’

Nick Nolte is not a fan of Ronald Reagan — either as a politician or an actor.

The “Graves” star set TV critics straight on Saturday, explaining that contrary to easy assumption, he did not base his Epix character on the 40th Commander-in-Chief of the United States. LBJ, maybe — a little bit, at least.

The 75-year-old Nolte said he didn’t think Reagan was a good President, and added, “He was a bad actor.”

Nolte plays an ex-POTUS on the upcoming comedy, and the thespian possesses strong opinions on how to fix America. He shared some of those during the Television Critics Association Summer Press Tour panel discussion, where he spoke out on the importance of marriage and advocated for a children’s Bill of Rights.

He also said Hispanic families seem to have a stronger grasp than most on what is truly important, adding that California would be lost without its immigrants. None of those topics were directly posed by reporters during the Q&A portion.

Nolte then reminded the journalists in attendance that we’re “all one breath away from death.”

“Graves” premieres Oct. 16 on Epix — if we all live long enough to see it.
