Ng Man Tat diagnosed with liver cancer

23 Feb – Following rumours that Ng Man Tat had been admitted to the hospital last week, it was recently revealed that the actor had actually been diagnosed with liver cancer.

As reported on Mingpao, the news was shared by good friend and fellow Stephen Chow collaborator Tin Kai Man, who revealed that Ng has already undergone surgery two months ago and is preparing for chemotherapy.

"He went to mainland China to do a photoshoot for the poster of his new movie and felt uncomfortable and so was transferred to Macau for further examination. There he found that he has a tumour. Two months ago, he returned to Hong Kong for surgery. It's not a sudden illness," said Tin.

As to why Ng's friends were tight-lipped about his condition earlier, Tin stated that they didn't want to make the matter bigger than it is.

"He is recuperating and he doesn't want more added stress," he said.

The actor added that Ng's wife has already arrived in Hong Kong from Malaysia, while his children have made arrangements for their return.

This was not the first time Ng was hospitalised for his health problems. Back in 2014, the actor was rushed to the ICU following his heart attack.
