Selena Gomez says Jodie Foster’s speech at the Golden Globe Awards was “incredible”.

Last night, the actress was presented with the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award and opened up on stage about her sexuality and personal life.

Many stars were touched by her emotional words, including 20-year-old Selena.

"It was absolutely incredible. I think it was probably one of my favourite speeches and I've watched [the Golden Globes] since I was ten years old with my mom," the Spring Breakers star gushed to Entertainment Tonight.

"I think it was beautiful [and] well-said."

As Jodie stood on stage, she addressed her “coming out” and how it feels to have been in the industry since she was a “toddler”.

Her honesty sparked a frenzy of Twitter reactions, as well as many tears in the audience.

"Jodie Foster's speech made me cry. It was so beautiful," actress Connie Britton marvelled.

"She's just such an example for all of us. She's done such amazing work as a woman in film and I admire her on every level."

Whereas many reacted emotionally to the shock announcement, others were hesitant to dwell on it for too long.

Modern Family star Sofía Vergara believes awards ceremonies are a time for celebration.

"I didn't cry. For me, these awards [are] not about crying," she stated. "For me, it's about how amazing [everything is] and celebrating. I mean, it's not like we're working on a mine in Peru. It's just fun and beautiful things."

As well as discussing her private life, Jodie hinted she may take a break from her career by revealing it felt like the “end of an era”.

However, the 50-year-old has now assured fans she isn’t planning on retiring anytime soon.

"I could never stop acting. You'd have to drag me behind, like, a team of horses," the star insisted to Us Magazine. "No, I'm not retiring from acting. And, you know, I'd like to be directing tomorrow... I'm actually more into it than I have ever been."
