20 Sep – With the ongoing dispute of fishing islands of Diaoyu/Senkaku, it seems that Li Bingbing's new Hollywood movie, "Resident Evil: Retribution" may not be released in mainland Chinese theatres.
According to Popular Asians website, the movie was originally scheduled to premiere in China on 14 September but was pulled from theatre two week prior to its screening and has been delayed indefinitely. Many believed that with the movie being an adaptation from a Japanese game, it will be unpatriotic for it to be screened in China.
However, Li's manager refuted the claims and stated that there may be different reasons for the movie to be pulled from theatres instead of it being a Japanese game.
In "Resident Evil: Retribution", Li plays the game's original anti-heroine character, Ada Wong.
