Perry wins big at People’s Choice Awards

Katy Perry picked up three awards at Wednesday night’s 39th Annual People’s Choice Awards.

Katy Perry seems to be a massive fan favourite as the pop star carried away three trophies from the People’s Choice Awards.

The 39th annual awards ceremony took place at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles Wednesday night.

Teenage Dream singer Katy was this year’s Favourite Pop Artist and Favourite Female Artist. Her Part of Me video was selected as Favourite Video of the year and even the star’s devotees were acknowledged, as the KatyCats triumphed as the Favourite Music Fan Following.

Although this year’s host, The Big Bang Theory comedian Kaley Cuoco, lost out against Lea Michele in the Comedic TV Actress category, Kaley will still be celebrating. The Big Bang Theory is America’s Favourite Network TV Comedy.

Crooner Taylor Swift remains popular and picked up a trophy for Favourite Country Artist.

“I want to the fans, because this is a fan-voted award and I love you with all my heart!” she gushed to the crowd.

Jennifer Aniston was equally moved to be fans’ Favourite Comedic Actress.

The veteran thespian remains appreciative of her broad support.

“I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to be honoured with this again, after supporting me for almost 20 years and allowing me to keep doing this,” she said

Sandra Bullock was applauded for her philanthropic efforts on the evening, particularly her charitable work with Hurricane Katrina rebuilding efforts in New Orleans, Louisiana. The star is the Favourite Humanitarian of the year.

An unprecedented 475 million votes were cast this year, a record-breaking amount.
