McG to cast spell for Magic Castle

10 Nov – "Charlie's Angels" director, McG, has recently confirmed to be attached to direct a movie about Hollywood's Magic Castle, which is an exclusive club for magicians.

The mansion is over 100 years old, and is said to be filled with labyrinths. It also serves as the headquarters for the Academy of Magical Arts with "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris serving as its President.

Nightly shows are held at the venue but members of the public are denied entrance unless they receive a personal invitation from a club member. Other celebrity magic enthusiasts who were part of the club include Cary Grant, Steve Martin and Johnny Carson.

McG will be directing based on the screenplay by Andrew Barrer and Gave Ferrari, the duo behind the big screen adaptation of "Sabrina The Teenage Witch".

Aside from the yet-untitled-movie about Hollywood's Magic Castle, McG is also slated to begin production on "Three Days To Kill", which stars Kevin Costner. The movie is set to wrap up production in February, after which McG will full commit himself to the Magic Castle project.

McG made his directorial debut with "Charlie's Angels" in 2000, followed by its sequel "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" three years later. He had also helmed "We Are Marshall" (2006), "Terminator Salvation" (2009) and "This Means War" (2012).
