Leslie's memorial concert a success

2 Apr – Despite the unsatisfying 'final words' revealed by Leslie Cheung's good friend, Florence Chan, the "Miss You Much Leslie" memorial concert that took place on 31 March was a successful one.

As reported on Jayne Stars, the Hong Kong Coliseum concert, held to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Leslie Cheung's passing, featured performances of Leslie's classic hits by popular artistes such as Joey Yung, Kelly Chen, Jacky Cheung, Anthony Wong and many others.

Several Leslie's hit songs were performed by the stars. While Anthony Wong performed "Glass-like Love" and "So Far So Close", Hins Cheung appeared in Leslie's famous half-suit, half-dress and sang Leslie and Anita Mui's classic "Peerless Beauty".

The performances continued with Kelly Chen, who danced to a medley of Leslie's fast songs that included "Stand Up" and "Monica", while Jacky Cheung sang a rendition of "Craziness" and "For Your Heart Only".

Meanwhile, top celebrities such as Simon Yam, Connie Chan, and Bak Sheut Sin also attended the concert to remember their dear friend, while Leslie's close friends Shu Qi, Sylvia Chang, Peter Chan, and Teresa Mo shared their memories of Leslie via video messages.

Tony Leung, Leslie's co-star in "Happy Together", appeared on stage three times to speak to Leslie. The actor expressed, "Sometimes I look up at the sky to see if I can find a legless bird. Tonight the stage is missing its star; it feels a bit lonely. It has been ten years, but everyone wants to know if you remember us still?"

The concert wrapped up with an all-star performance of "Wind Blows On", while fans and friends in the audience raised electric candles to pay tribute to the superstar as a video of Leslie performing "Star" played in the background.
