Leehom denies slapping Lu Chen

13 Feb – Rumour has it that Taiwanese R&B star, Wang Leehom slapped famous magician Lu Chen for poking fun at his scandal with pianist, Li Yundi.

According to Asianpopnews website, the incident reportedly occurred backstage after Lu Chen's magic show at the CCTV New Year's Gala.

Earlier in his show, Lu Chen had covered Li Yundi with a curtain in order to make him disappear. However, the pianist suddenly popped his head out to speak to him.

Surprised by Li Yundi, the magician unexpectedly exclaimed, "Are you looking for Leehom?", and sparked a big applause and cheers from the audiences.

Leehom was allegedly furious with Lu Chen's words to his good friend, Li Yundi and slapped him after the performance.

Nevertheless, Wang Leehom found the slapping rumour to be funny, and responded that he had left the show early.

The singer updated his Weibo recently and teased Lu Chen, saying, "Brother, did someone hit you? Did that person really look like me?", and was quickly replied by Lu Chen, "I think I have amnesia after being hit. I can't remember this incident. What shall we do?"

Asked about his joke on stage, Lu Chen said, "It was arranged with Yundi. We wanted to use this joke to make the audience laugh".

However, CCTV has released a statement on its Weibo - refuting Lu Chen's statement, and wrote, "The director did not design for Lu Chen's jibing act on Wang Leehom and Li Yundi. It was a spontaneous act by Lu Chen and it was a personal behaviour undertaken by him. The part was already omitted in our replay telecast".

The magician had since challenged the statement made by CCTV, and denied that it was a reckless act on his part.
