JYJ’s Kim Jae Joong will be taking on his first role in a traditional drama on MBC’s Dr. Jin as Joseon’s Kim Kyung Tak.
Last year, he became the beloved ‘God Mu’ as Cha Mu Won in SBS’ Protect the Boss, and this time he’s aiming to build an image as a mature actor through Kim Kyung Tak, who is skilled and ambitious, but carries emotional scars.
In the revealed stills, Kim Jae Joong managed to live up to his fans’ expectations with his charismatic eyes and commanding visuals. He will not only look the role, but act the part, as he is currently pouring a lot of time into studying and practicing the dialect and actions needed in traditional dramas.
The producers said, “Although it’s his first traditional drama role, he’s calmly acting out his part, and he fits the clothes and makeup perfectly. Kim Jae Joong himself is putting a lot of effort into the strong and manly Kim Kyung Tak role. We expect his charms to reach the viewers and take over.”
The fantasy medical drama Dr. Jin is based on a Japanese manga of the same title that has been serialized for 10 years by Motoka Murakami. The drama will show how the best doctor in Korea travels through time from 2012 to the Joseon Period of the 1860s and works as a doctor there. It will start airing from May 26 after Feast of the Gods wraps up.
