14 Dec – Hong Kong commercial television station, TVB, have been busy recently with their efforts to recruit prolific actors Bowie Lam and Charmaine Sheh to film for the company again, and their latest attempt involved actress Gigi Lai, who has been offered HK$4million, according to JayneStars.
In 2007, 40-year-old Lai left the industry in order to look after her brother's business, but since her twin daughters were already one-and-a-half years old and have entered nursery school, TVB wants Lai to make a comeback.
During her retirement, Lai took care of her twin daughters and managed her younger brother, Lai Ying's beauty salon business. With so much on her hands, it is understandable that Lai is hesitant to accept TVB's offer. However, according to sources, she has been seen trying to get back into shape to film an upcoming commercial.
TVB executive and Lai's good friend, Virginia Lok, admitted that she has remained in touch with the singer-actress.
When asked whether TVB had asked Lai to return to the small screen, Lok said, "We keep in touch with many actresses-turned-mothers, such as Kenix Kwok, Flora Chan, and Gigi Lai. If there are appropriate roles for them, we will definitely ask if they are interested!"
