The actress won Best Actress at the IFFM for her role in indie project, "Asintado"

26 Oct - Actress Aiko Melendez has won another Best Actress award for her role in the indie movie, "Asintado", this time at the 2015 International Film Festival Manhattan.

As reported on Push, the actress revealed the news online recently, saying, "I just got a text from director [Louie Ignacio], who is now in Manhattan, that I won for International Film Festival Manhattan for best actress for our movie "Asintado"."

Melendez also thanked a lot of people for her latest award, from the director and producers Dennis Evangelista and Ferdinand Lapuz, to her pastor and church mates.

"Another international award!" she enthused. "God is good. He knows the perfect timing for everything."

Melendez previously won similar award at the 7th International Filmmaker Festival of World Cinema that was held in London back in February.

Meanwhile, director Louie Ignacio also won Best Director for the movie at the film festival.

"Asintado" is a story of how a mentally-challenged son was pushed to kill a drug dealer by his mother, in order to save his brother who was at a risk of death after botching a drug courier job.
