Meet Margot Robbie's Sharon Tate in the new 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' trailer

A new trailer has arrived for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, hours before the Quentin Tarantino movie’s glittering world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

The full-length teaser for the film unveils a little more of the plot, with Leonardo DiCaprio’s seasoned actor Rick Dalton struggling with a declining career, while living next door to rising star Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie).

Meanwhile, Rick’s stuntman Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt) seems to be moving into the orbit of Charles Manson and his ‘family’ of followers.

There’s also the spectacle of DiCaprio’s character torching a room full of Nazis, which is an interesting addition given Tarantino’s history-defying take on World War Two in Inglourious Basterds.

This trailer arrives as the first screenings of the highly anticipated film are set to take place at the Cannes Film Festival.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was initially absent from the festival’s programme, with Tarantino unable to deliver the completed film in time to be listed.

He has now, however, finished the edit and the movie is one of the hottest properties on the Croisette.

Tarantino published a letter online this week, urging those who see the movie to preserve its secrets for those who will have to wait for its official release date.

Critics and fans have been massing in the streets all day, with Total Film’s Jamie Graham sharing a flavour of the crowds on Twitter.

For those not lucky enough to be sunning themselves in France, or hiding inside a cinema anyway, the trailer has provoked plenty of discussion on social media.

Many fans have suggested that Once Upon a Time in Hollywood - Tarantino’s ninth feature film - may turn out to be his best.

As well as the eye-catching trio of DiCaprio, Pitt and Robbie, the cast of the film includes Al Pacino, Kurt Russell, Bruce Dern, Dakota Fanning and the late Luke Perry.

Damon Herriman will play the cult leader Manson and is also set to portray the character in the second season of Netflix crime drama Manhunter.
