British gastropub Oxwell & Co has opened a new secret bar on Ann Siang Hill. Called the Apothecary, it is nestled on the third floor of Oxwell & Co’s heritage shophouse, with a secret door connecting it to an adjacent private dining room.

The room is adorned with vintage furnishings flown in from all over the world. According to Oxwell & Co, the bar is intended to be “a place where eccentric antiques complement jars of self-concocted elixirs that promise to treat all that ails you”.

Some of the “elixirs and potions” that are offered at the Apothecary include the Croak and Wheeze Relief, a concoction made of a 12-year-old Glenfiddich whisky infused with honey sage syrup, orange bitters and finished with cigar smoke, as well as the Pearly White Polish, which combines a Balvenie 12-year whisky with elderflower, grapefruit soda and house-made raspberry toothpaste.

There is also the Fennicilin, which comprises Monkey Shoulder whisky, Islay Malt whisky, honey fennel syrup, root ginger and citrus. The drinks cost between $14 and $24. You can have food to go with your drinks, such as Salt and Pepper Squid and Crispy Salmon Fingers and Tartare Sauce.

The Apothecary adds to the existing offerings at Oxwell & Co, which comprise a gastro bar on the first floor, a restaurant on the second floor, a private dining space on the third floor for private functions and a rooftop bar.

The Apothecary is open from Wednesdays to Saturdays from 6pm onwards.
