After 11 years of receiving guests, Singapore’s New Majestic Hotel will be doing its final check-out on 1 June 2017 to make way for new developments, reportedly a new private club.

Loh Lik Peng, Director of Unlisted Collection, which owns New Majestic Hotel, said, “New Majestic Hotel holds great sentimental value to me… But when a golden opportunity comes up at the perfect time, you have to take it. To grow, you have to be open to change.”

Since its conception in 2006, the New Majestic Hotel has received a number of international accolades for its unique design and strong emphasis on local culture and the arts. It is one of Singapore’s pioneering boutique hotels and the first in the country to revolve around design.

New Majestic Hotel previously worked with nine local artists to create and integrate original local art into the hotel’s spaces, and also boasts of five design concept rooms.

Each of these five rooms feature unique concepts by different designers, inspired by the likes of celebrity photographer David Lachapelle and Chinese director Zhang Yimou.

To commemorate the hotel’s 11 years of operation, a Memory Wall will be set up in the hotel lobby from 28 April to 20 May for members of the public to share their memories of the hotel.

An appreciation party will also be held for hotel staff and their families.
