New Look At The Enterprise In Star Trek Beyond
It looks as though ‘Star Trek Beyond’ sees the USS Enterprise get a few upgrades… as a new video unveils the new additions to the ship.
Since the rebooted ‘Star Trek’ took to our screens in 2009, the USS Enterprise has been through a lot. We’ve seen it encounter the destruction of Vulcan and even go up against the impressive USS Vengeance in ‘Star Trek Into Darkness’.
But what new tricks does the Enterprise have in ‘Star Trek Beyond’?
There are plenty of new additions… including a child for one iconic crew member.

During an exclusive video for Entertainment Tonight, it was revealed that the Enterprise has a few new surprises… including some pretty awesome phasers.
“Well this is new,” said Chris Pine as he pointed out some bigger, badder phasers. “I haven’t seen this before – the uh… the weapons bays. This is kinda neat. I think those big phasers are brand new.”
And it seems the uniforms have had a bit of restyling, too.
“I think it’s gone back,” said Chief Medical officer, Karl Urban. “It’s a little retro, which I really like. I think it’s just, in the 50th anniversary, the designers have done a wonderful job of giving a lovely nod to Star Trek’s of the past.”
But the biggest revelation?
It seems that Lieutenant Sulu has a daughter.
“Sulu has a baby,” says ‘Star Trek’ actor John Cho. “At the beginning of the movie, we’re all homesick… we’re getting into our ruts. And I think we’ve been around each other too long and that’s where it starts. Sulu has a heartache for his little baby and has brought a picture to his console.”
But how does Sulu’s daughter play into the bigger film plot?
“There is another revelation that you’ll find out in regards to this baby,” he added. “But for that, you’ll have to wait to see the movie.”
‘Star Trek Beyond’ heads to cinemas on 22 July 2016.
