In Singapore, we take our durians very seriously and we are never short of new and different ways of consuming this beloved King of Fruits.

Put aside your durian strudels, tarts and pizzas, and brace yourself for the next durian craze – chargrilled durians.

A new cafe called Double Durian which opened on Hamilton Road in February this year is offering this dish at $10. Prices are subject to seasonal changes due to durian availability.

The cafe’s signature dish involves baking the fruit in its entirety over charcoal, including the husks.

The end result is a blackened shell and durian flesh that’s lukewarm on the outside and chilled on the inside, according to the cafe.

Double Durian serves Western cuisine, durians, and durian-related food products. The cafe’s mission is to let people know more about durian through desserts and drinks, including durian smoothies and crepes.
