New Alien: Covenant poster released ahead of next trailer

Run and hide. Good advice for anyone unlucky enough to find themselves stalked by a terrifying killing machine in the world of Ridley Scott’s ‘Alien’ series.

Twentieth Century Fox has released a new poster, the second following the debut poster featuring a familiar Xenomorph and a single word: “Run”. This new poster is similar in style with its green and black colouring, and depicts a familiar Xenomorph egg, this time with the word “Hide”.

Fox has dropped the new poster ahead of the film’s second trailer, which will debut tomorrow (1 March).

‘Covenant’ is a prequel to the Ellen Ripley/Sigourney Weaver films, but a sequel to 2012 prequel ‘Prometheus’, with Ridley Scott back in the director’s chair.

The film is about one of the first space-faring missions to colonise an alien planet, but the Covenant’s crew soon discover they’re not alone on their new home. Not only are deadly spores and alien life, but a strange android as well.

‘Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them’s Katherine Waterston stars as Daniels opposite crewmates Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, James Franco, Demián Bichir, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Jussie Smollett, Callie Hernandez, Nathaniel Dean, Alexander England and Benjamin Rigby.

Michael Fassbender returns as his ‘Prometheus’ character David, but the star also plays Walter, another model of the David android. If the first clip released from the film is any indication, Scott will – as is customary for the series – have fun teasing whether Walter is to be trusted or not on this mission.

In the clip, we’re introduced to the Covenant crew shortly before they’re put into cryosleep for their long-haul journey into space.

‘Alien Covenant’ is set for release in the UK on 19 May.
