Choi Pro, played by Jeon’s Money Heist: Korea co-star Kim Ji-hoon, the man responsible for the tragic demise of her dear friend, the talented ballerina Min-hee, brought to life by Park Yu-rim (Drive My Car).
Beyond simply hand-to-hand combat, the trailer showcases scenes where Ok-ju can be seen wielding weapons like a gun or a knife, as she goes up against opponents with weapons of their own, such as a hammer or a chainsaw. Amidst the adrenaline-pumping fight sequences that promise an action-packed spectacle, Ok-ju affirms , “I’ll hunt you down all the way to hell. Don’t you remember me? It’s me. The ballerina.”
The movie reunites director Lee Chung-hyeon with lead actress Jeon. They previously worked together in the 2020 movie The Call.
Ballerina shares the same name with a John Wick spin-off set for June 2024. However, the two films are unrelated.
Netflix’s Ballerina will premiere on 6 October 2023.
