‘Nerdland’ Acquired By Samuel Goldwyn Films For December Bow

Samuel Goldwyn Film has acquired North American rights to Nerdland, the Chris Prynoski-helmed animated movie featuring the voices of Patton Oswalt, Paul Rudd, Hannibal Buress, Reid Scott, Mike Judge, Riki Lindhome, Kate Micucci, Laraine Newman and Paul Scheer. The first feature film from animation house Titmouse bowed this year at Tribeca Film Festival and is next up screening at Beyond Fest. Goldwyn plans a December theatrical release.

The pic follows two slacker best friends, aspiring actor John (Rudd) and wannabe screenwriter Elliot (Oswalt), who have seen their dreams of superstardom fizzle. With their 30th birthdays looming and desperation growing, they decide that in this 24/7, celebrity-obsessed world of over-shared navel-gazing, there are more ways to get famous then ever before — so why not become famous by the end of the day, at any cost? They set about doing just that in Los Angeles.

Andrew Kevin Walker penned the script and produced with Gavin Polone. Kathy Landsberg, Prynoski and Shannon Barrett Prynoski are exec producers. The deal was negotiated by Samuel Goldwyn president Peter Goldwyn and UTA on behalf of the filmmakers.
