With National Day coming next month, Singaporeans can already start to get into the spirit of the event as they go about their daily commute on National Day Parade (NDP)-themed MRT trains.

The specially-decorated trains were launched on Monday (17 July) morning as a collaboration between the Land Transport Authority (LTA), SBS Transit and SMRT.

A total of four such trains will operate on all MRT lines, one on each line, on the North South and East West Line (NSEWL), the North East Line (NEL), the Circle Line (CCL) and the Downtown Line (DTL) until 27 August.

In an announcement to the public on their Facebook page, LTA posted a couple of photos showing the interior of the new trains. They enticed commuters to get “red-y” and to “keep their eyes ‘white’ open” for the launch of the new trains which are already in operations.

The trains are mainly decorated with the logo of year’s NDP theme, “One Nation Together”. The trains’ walls and ceilings are also plastered with images of fighter jets, fireworks and ethnic performers to echo the National Day Parade.

LTA said in a media statement that this was also part of their efforts to “foster positive commuter culture and improve transport experiences”.
