NBC Orders Little Big Shots Spinoff, This Time With Senior Citizens

Steve Harvey has perfected talking to little kids. Now he can work on relating to the Greatest Generation.

NBC’s hit reality show Little Big Shots is getting a new spinoff featuring senior citizens, the network announced Wednesday. While the original Big Shots featured kids showing off their talents and chatting with host Harvey, the spinoff — titled Little Big Shots: Forever Young — will feature elderly folks as they display “their hidden talents, vibrant personalities and incredible wisdom.”

This news comes as no surprise, since Big Shots (from Warner Horizon Television, and executive produced by Harvey and Ellen DeGeneres) was such a huge hit for NBC this past spring. Averaging 11.5 million weekly viewers, it ranked as the most-watched new show of the TV season — and the most-watched new reality show since Undercover Boss debuted on CBS in 2010.

And since they’ve already cornered the market on cute kids, cute old people were the logical next step. “Just like the kids, they have insane skills that will amaze and surprise you,” Warner Bros. reality president Mike Darnell said in a statement. “Not to mention the often hysterical (and sometimes shocking) things they say.”

In other words: Steve Harvey, set your face to stunned.
