NBC Buys Cop Family Drama From Nkechi Carroll & Matt Reeves As Put Pilot

Family Honor, a drama series project from Rosewood co-executive producer Nkechi Carroll and Felicity co-creator Matt Reeves, has landed at NBC with a put pilot commitment. The project hails from 20th Century Fox TV, where both Carroll and Reeves are under overall deals, and Reeves’ 6th & Idaho production company.

Written by Carroll, Family Honor is an ensemble police procedural explored through the eyes of four diverse foster sisters who fall on both sides of the law. The project is personal to Carroll who adopted her youngest son through the foster system and continues to be actively involved with the Foster Care system in Los Angeles.

Carroll executive produces Family Honor with 6th & Idaho’s Reeves and Adam Kassan. At 6th & Idaho, the project is being overseen by Rafi Crohn.

Since Felicity ended its four-season run in 2002, Reeves — who created and executive produced the the cult WB dramedy with J.J. Abrams — has been focused on feature directing, helming Abrams’ Cloverfield and Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes. He is in post-production on the followup, War For the Planet of the Apes. 6th & Idaho is repped by CAA, 3 Arts, and Attorney Karl Austen.

Actress-writer Carroll, who grew up in the Ivory Coast and England, previously worked on Fox’s procedural Bones and its spinoff The Finder. She is repped by WME and MetaMorphic Entertainment.

Drama procedurals have been hot so far this buying season, with most of the broadcast networks pursuing the classic TV genre that has loyal audience and repeats well. NBC also gave a put pilot commitment to a legal drama procedural based on the novel Blood Defense by author and former O.J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark, which she is co-writing with Elizabeth Craft & Sara Fain.
