22 Mar – Singapore's National Youth Film Awards (NYFA) returns for its fourth year as it partners up with HOOQ, Asia's first premium video-on-demand service for 2018.

In search of finding Singapore's young talents in filmmaking, this year NYFA decided to add a brand new award category in the mix: the Open Youth Category.

This category is added to recognise youths who are exceptionally skilled in their respective fields across the borders of filmmaking, with or without any formal training.

"We would like to bring more Singapore-made films into the region to showcase the talent from our little island", said Adrian Teo, Singapore Country Manager of HOOQ, in a press statement.

Other categories in NYFA are Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Direction, Best Editing, Best Original Music, Best Picture, Best Production Design, Best Screenplay and Best Sound.

To motivate filmmakers in Singapore, HOOQ will offer a lot of winning prizes including showcasing the winning movies on its streaming platform, cash prizes starting from SGD1000, and participation in selected professional film courses worth SGD15000.

Other prizes include a Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood including accommodations, exclusive management contract with Beam Artistes, quick access to film grant applications with Honour Singapore and opportunities to work with well-known professionals in the industry.

Submissions for NYFA are open from 17 April to 18 May 2018.
