These days, a trip to the revamped Funan is as much about face-stuffing at hip eateries or scaling rock walls as it is about getting your hands on the latest tech gadgets. The choices are boundless, but even so, don’t miss out on the tiny shops at the corners of the mall. Like Nasty Cookie.
Its storefront is attention-grabbing, with Tiffany blue walls and neon signs proclaiming “trust me, it’s worth every calorie” or “I like it thiccc” to reassure those trying to rationalize their dessert intake. And did we mention the neat display of gorgeous cookies, stuffed and studded with all kinds of toppings?
Established by a young, pro female bodybuilder, who started the biz as a side job, the brand online-to-offline presence is felt at Funan, where its first physical outlet resides. Despite its name, there’s nothing nasty about these jumbo cookies that are chunky, crisp, and chewy — except maybe the amount of calories that probably come with every bite. But let’s not think about that.
Said to be less sweet than the average recipe and inspired by NYC’s famous Levain Bakery, the cookies come in “classic” and “premium”, at $4.20 and $4.90 respectively. Its regular flavors are chocolate chip and dark chocolate chip, while fancier creations include cookies and creme, choco bueno (a mix of chocolate and Kinder Bueno), Reese’s cup, and O’Smarties.
Once you make your pick, the staff will inject your cookie (using an actual syringe) with your chosen filling from options such as Nutella, caramel, and marshmallow. So yeah, not only are the treats generously stuffed with toppings, they also have molten cores to make up for the fact that they’re pricier than usual.
But if it happens to be your cheat day, we’ll have you know the store also offers vanilla soft serve ($2.90) and shakes (from $4.90) for extra-rich indulgence. Just sayin’.
Nasty Cookie is at #02-35 Funan, 107 North Bridge Rd.
