3 Sep – Although her only drama this year, "Justice Bao: The First Year" did not elicit great response from viewers, TVB actress Nancy Wu remains optimistic that any publicity is good publicity.
As reported on On CC, the actress, who spoke about the series recently, stated that she has no knowledge of the decisions of some netizens to boycott the final episode, which aired at the end of August.
"To me, it's good to have such a strong reaction online, because it means that they are watching the drama. I am just happy and surprised," she said.
Asked to give her own opinion as to why people were boycotting the final episode, Nancy responded, "I don't know. But it's good that people are talking about it."
Nancy also stated that the production deliberately left the series with an open ending, so that it could lead to a sequel if necessary.
The drama received a lot of criticisms since it aired back in July, with netizens pointing out that the drama looked outdated due to its costume, props, and even cinematography. Some also bashed Owen Cheung, who plays the role of Justice Bao's famous bodyguard, Chin Chiu, saying that the actor was not convincing in her portrayal of the role, and commented that Shaun Tam was miscast as the titular character.
