Nadine Lustre on breakup: Learn to live on your own

18 Nov - There are many ways to recover from a broken heart, but according to Nadine Lustre, you just have to brave the storm.

The actress, who joined Saab Magalona and Jim Bacarro on their podcast recently, stated that one should always take a break and enjoy one's own company following the end of a relationship, to learn how to make it on your own.

"I feel like because you've grown with another person, you guys are growing together, I feel like it's high time that you grow on your own," she said. "Just take it slow. You really have to go through it because I believe that there's stages. You can't just go through a breakup and after a couple of months you're done."

As for herself, Nadine said that she went through a weird situation where it just went away one day after a long process of not being able to let go.

"There were times I was like, 'I wish this could still work out.' You're still there. But I was aware that it was slowly going away. At first it was hard for me, because I was like, this couldn't happen. This can't go away because I still want to be with this person."

"One day, I just woke up and I told my friend, 'You know what, it's not there anymore.' Sometimes, that happens. It took a while because I needed to realise that I needed to put myself first. But when I realised that, and when I decided to put myself first, it just went out the window."

She added that friends were also important during the tough times.

"Just because at least, I have someone to vent to, like, all my emotions. I was just pouring it on someone. I was cooking. I was doing flower arrangements. I was watching series, painting, just anything that I have always wanted to do, but didn't have time to do or didn't have the chance to."
