21 Jul – Comedian-turned-filmmaker Nabil Ahmad is relieved and elated that his new film, "Mat Bond Malaya", will finally see the light of day as it is set to be released on Astro First.
The comedian, who spoke about the movie, revealed that he actually shot the film in the early days of COVID-19 when Malaysia has yet to go on lockdown.
"We were making a movie about a virus, and that the country goes into lockdown and in chaos. But a week after we finished filming, the lockdown was announced," he said.
Nabil stated that while he was grateful that they were able to complete the movie before the lockdown happened, it took a whole year before he finally decided to release it instead of waiting for the pandemic to be over.
"God gave me light at the end of the tunnel through Astro First, because I think I would be ruined if I have to wait five to six more years to show this film," he joked.
The movie, starring Naqiu, Elizabeth Tan, Farid Halus, Azri Iskandar and Riezman Khuzaimi, will be available beginning 20 July on Astro First, Channel 480.
