Mother's Day 2020 wishes: Celebrities thank mums and share throwback photos

Celebrities took to social media to pay tribute to their mothers and other motherly figures on Mother’s Day yesterday (10 May).

Here’s a look at some of your favourite Asian celebrities who’ve penned heartfelt Mother’s Day tributes, and shared throwback photos too!

Lee Sinje, actress

We’re loving all these throwback photos! Sinje shares a sweet tribute to her mum: “I love my mother very, very much because she pampers me since young... Haha! Although pampered, this love given did not spoil me but has made me believe in myself and have a greater love for other(s).”

“Mum frequently tells us that she has lost an opportunity to embrace her dreams as she had entered into marriage and family life at a very young age therefore she encourages and supports each and every one of us to pursue their own dreams. She feels that every man should live according to their own created path of life. To my beloved mum and to all mummies in the world, wishing all of you Happy Mother’s Day!” she added.

Fann Wong, actress

Singaporean actress Fann Wong who shares a son, Zed Lee, with Malaysian actor Christopher Lee thanked both her husband and kid in a Mother’s Day post: “Because of you guys, I am a happy mother.” Aww, so sweet.

In a throwback photo, the actress shares a photo of herself (adorable!) alongside her siblings and her mum: “You are a daily reminder that there's strength in compassion and empathy ❤️Wishing all mothers, grandmothers, mothers-to-be, and amazing mother figures a blessed Mothers' Day ❤️🌹”

Nora Danish, actress

In her Instagram post, the Malaysian actress, who is married to Nedim Nazri, shared a video showing a compilation of photos and narrated by her first son Putra Rayqal Rizal Ashram.

“Awww thank u Qal for this. Love u so much sayang mummy. I’m so blessed to have a son like u.. caring , loving & so thoughtful,” she wrote.

In her Mother’s Day tribute post, the Filipino actress shared: “I'm not ashamed to say that I got my aggressiveness from you. I will forever be thankful for you.”

Kathryn Bernardo, actress

Filipino actress Kathryn Bernardo shared photos with her mum, which included some shots of their family holidays. She listed five characteristics that make a mum in her post.

Chantalle Ng, actress

The young Singaporean actress persuaded her mum, well-known actress Lin Meijiao to sing a cover song with her and the result is just heartfelt. She wrote, “童年 (Childhood) is a song that was very well-loved during her time; hopefully it'll put a smile on your faces too ❤️😊”

Zheng Geping, director/actor

Singaporean actor Geping shared two posts on Instagram to commemorate Mother’s Day: one dedicated to his mum for “loving him unconditionally” and another to his wife, Hong Huifang. In the latter post, he gifted bird’s nest and roses to his wife, who he has been been married to for 28 years!

Datin Tiara Jacquelina, director

Whilst juggling her roles as a businesswoman (she owns a glamping resort) and the director of a theatre productions company, Jacquelina shared two posts dedicated to her children, Dani and Mila: “There's this boy named Dani who stole my heart... he calls me MOM💜. The Filipino-Aussie actress/host shared a letter of gratitude to her mother in her post for Mother’s Day. In her second Instagram post, she recounted her own personal journey as a first-time mum.
