In need of some travel inspiration for your next adventure? just released its 12th annual Traveler Review Awards, including a ranking of the 10 most welcoming destinations and regions worldwide. The platform used over 309 million verified customer reviews to create the list of destinations.

The big winner is Brazil's Arraial d'Ajuda in Bahia, known as a vacationer's paradise for its beautiful beaches, followed by Greece's Ermoupoli, a town on the Cycladic island of Syros. However, not all of's most welcoming places are by the beach. In fact, the only U.S. destination on the list this year is miles away inland in Utah.

Moab, a small town in southeast Utah, which is the gateway to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, ranked sixth on the list.

"An outdoor enthusiast's paradise in southeastern Utah, Moab is the perfect destination to discover a variety of landscapes that are among the most beautiful in the United States,” Angela Cavis, director of communications, North America at, told Travel + Leisure.

Cavis also noted that the region is popular with stargazing enthusiasts, as it is home to three certified International Dark Sky Parks and Communities: Arches National Park, Dead Horse Point State Park, and Canyonlands National Park.

Moab is located in a valley in the Colorado Plateau and near the Colorado River, so travelers can also enjoy water sports activities like kayaking, rafting, or paddleboarding. Historically, Moab's economy has counted on agriculture and mining as key financial drivers. However, at least since the 1960s, when Canyonlands National Park was established and visitors started flocking here to take advantage of the hiking trails and to admire the otherworldly landscapes, tourism has been booming.

The town now has at least 20 food and beverage venues, a lot of them on its main drag. There are also dozens of hotels, including Field Station, an affordable property geared toward outdoor enthusiasts created by the founder of AutoCamp Hospitality Group, and Ulum Moab, a glamping resort 25 minutes south.

“We encourage travelers to add Moab to their vacation list this year and explore the amazing places to stay in the city on,” Cavis added.

Another easily accessible destination from the U.S. on the company's list is Mazatlán, Mexico, a picture-perfect coastal enclave steeped in history and perfect for a romantic escape. To learn more, read the full report on
