Calling all parents-to-be, the most popular US baby names of 2019 have been revealed and there’s no greater place to seek inspiration.

According to the list compiled by baby moniker site Nameberry, the most popular name for boys so far this year is Milo.

With roots in both Latin and old German, the name can mean ‘soldier’ or ‘merciful’. Although, a large number of parents are sure to have been influenced by Milo Ventimiglia of ‘This is Us’ fame.

In second place is Jasper with Atticus following closely behind - the name of a fictional character in the famous 1960 novel To ‘Kill a Mockingbird’.

For girls, Posie has swiftly overtaken Olivia as the most popular name of 2019 so far.

Nameberry notes that the moniker further demonstrates the increasing popularity of nicknames with Posie often used on its own or as an abbreviated term for Penelope or Josephine.

Although the name has been crowned number one this year, Posie never even ranked among the US top 1,000 until now.

In at number two is Scottish moniker Isla followed by Olivia - the most popular name of 2018.

Proving the Disney theme is still going strong, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty’s first name) took fourth place. The news comes after it was revealed that the number of children named after popular Disney films has risen over the past 12 years in the UK.

But parents aren’t fully turning their backs on traditional monikers, as Maeve - which has roots in Irish mythology - came in fifth place.
