The Most Amazing White Suit Moments in Fashion History

For two incredibly important moments in her campaign, Hillary Clinton has worn white pants suit. First, at the Democratic National Convention in July, she channelled suffragettes in a white blazer, jersey shirt, and trousers custom made for her by Ralph Lauren. Then, at the third and final debate on Wednesday night, she called on the Bronx-born designer again, who delivered a cool wool crepe curved front jacket with horn buttons cascading down the front with matching wool crepe pants.

The shade, more than any other color she’s worn throughout her presidential campaign, made Clinton appear, as many noted on social media, angelic. Some even said she glowed.

Yet Clinton isn’t the only woman to harness the power of the white ensemble. Judge Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic justice on the United States Supreme Court, wore a white skirt and jacket as she was sworn in. Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, the first female president in South America, wore something similar when she took the top job in 2011. Princess Diana and the Duchess of Cambridge both wore versions. And then there’s pop culture royalty: Beyonce, Rihanna, Selena Gomez, and more have all given the style a spin.
