Molly Ringwald Will Star In Off-Broadway ‘Terms Of Endearment’
A long-aborning U.S. stage premiere of Terms Of Endearment has found its Aurora in the star of such iconic teen-angsty vehicles as The Breakfast Club and Pretty In Pink.
As Deadline revealed exclusively 10 days back, Dan Gordon’s adaptation of James L. Brooks’ screenplay based on the Larry McMurtry novel is set to begin performances at the end of October at the Upper East Side theater complex 59E59 Theatres.
Molly Ringwald, who has built an adult performing career with appearances in Cabaret, Tick, Tick…Boom! and How I Learned To Drive, among other shows, takes on the role for which Shirley MacLaine won an Oscar in the 1983 weeper about Aurora’s complicated relationships with her daughter (Debra Winger in the film) and her amorous astronaut neighbor (Jack Nicholson in the film). Michael Parva is directing the play, which had a recent UK tour with Linda Gray as Aurora.
Other casting and production details will soon be announced, according to the producers, The Directors Company, Julian Schlossberg, and Roy Furman in association with Invictus Theater Company and GR8 Theatricals.
