Model receives death threats for choosing to leave monobrow unplucked

A model whose monobrow has lead to her becoming an Instagram sensation has revealed she regularly receives death threats.

Sophia Hadjipanteli opts not to pluck her bushy eyebrows, leaving her monobrow to grow naturally.

But though her striking look has earned her 292K followers on Instagram, unfortunately it’s also attracted some negative attention.

Appearing on ‘Good Morning Britain’ she explained that she tries not to let unpleasant reactions get her down.

“I get a lot of death threats funnily enough, I guess it’s not that funny,” she said.

“I definitely get a lot of negative reactions, I’m not going to sit here and say a lot of them are positive because that’s obviously not the case. Most are negative.”

But despite some negativity about embracing her natural look, the model has also attracted legions of fans for promoting body positivity.

“It’s disgusting but then you think how is it that somewhere somebody has been told that it’s so unacceptable to look the way I do that it infuriates them to the point where they have to threaten my life,” she continued.

“I think it has to do with this ongoing conversation that we are being brought up in a society that not only favourites but encourages people to go down one road. It’s quite a strongly paved road.”

Asked when she had decided to stop plucking her monobrow, Sophia said: “I wish there was one specific moment where I stopped plucking my monobrow.”

She revealed that she had grown up in a “very conservative area of Maryland” and that she had struggled with being different.

Piers described the death threats “disgusting” as other GMB viewers took to Twitter to praise the model’s uniqueness.
