Salomon and MM6 Maison Margiela are at it again.
In the latest capsule as part of an ongoing partnership, the pair delivers two footwear styles and their first-ever ready-to-wear collection. The first shoe is an urban take on the signature Salomon ACS Pro 2 running sneaker — revisiting it in sleek concrete gray with muted silver accents or in a rubberized matte black version with a contrasting glossy tar-black structure that recalls an exoskeleton.
The second sneaker is a new twist on Salomon’s Speedcross trail-running shoe. Called the Salomon Cross Low MM6 Maison Margiela, the style features a new low proportion and a specially designed lug sole. The shoe comes in two fresh color treatments, with striking tonal combos of bubblegum pink and bright red or an almond and army green version offset with an acid yellow detail on the heel encased with dark forest green
The style’s signature drawstring gaiter-style nylon closure – connected to its hi-tech molded composite sole via taped waterproof seams, with a reflective strip for the green style – evokes both an extreme sports parka and old-school waterproof galoshes.
As for the collection’s ready-to-wear offering, the brands are rolling out a minimalist all-gender capsule collection that includes oversized formal pants and shirts, stretch leggings, long-sleeved crew-neck tops, a basic trench coat, a straight-leg five-pocket pant, a zipped windbreaker, oversized button-down shirts and the Trailblazer Daypack 20.
This release follows the duo’s recent launch of the MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon XT-Mary J hybrid shoe earlier this month. The collaborative silhouette is a spin on the classic Salomon XT-4 trail running shoe and melds a robust sole with a delicate upper construction.
MM6 Maison Margiela and Salomon began working together in 2023. In June, the duo released the MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon XT-4 Mule in three colorways as well as the X-Alp release in black and white-and-black.
The release also comes just weeks after Salomon opened its first-ever U.S. pop-up in NYC. The store, which highlights the company’s Sportstyle collection, joins the brand’s other locations in London, Barcelona, Seoul, Tokyo and beyond, including the Salomon flagship store on the Champs-Élysées and a Sportstyle concept store in Le Marais in Paris.
The latest MM6 Maison Margiela x Salomon capsule will be available from Nov. 7 on the brands’ e-commerce sites and boutiques, as well as in selected multi-brand stores.
