Miss Colombia to make film debut in "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage"
3 Mar – Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez has landed her first acting job in the upcoming action movie, "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage".
Gutierrez is the first runner-up in last year's infamous Miss Universe pageant after host, Steve Harvey made a mistake by announcing her as the winner.
Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was crowned after the confusion was solved.
Rebounding from all that, 22-year-old Gutierrez will play Xander Cage's love interest in the film that has already started production in Toronto and the Dominican Republic.
Revolution Studios, Roth Kirschenbaum Films and Diesel's One Race Film are working together to make the third installment of the "xXx" franchise directed by "I Am Number Four" helmsman, D.J. Caruso.
Diesel starred in Rob Cohen's "xXx" back in 2002 as an underground sports star who was blackmailed by the government to take care of some terrorist.
The film made USD277 million at the global box office but it's 2005 sequel starring actor-rapper Ice Cube as the lead performed poorly, only grossing USD71 million worldwide.
The third film will see Cage coming out of exile to recover a dangerous weapon known as Pandora's Box.
Apart from Diesel and Gutierrez, the film has a star-studded casts featuring Bollywood star Deepika Padukone, Ruby Rose ("Orange is the New Black"), Nina Dobrev ("The Vampire Diaries"), Donnie Yen ("Ip Man"), Conor McGregor (MMA fighter) and Samuel L. Jackson ("Hateful Eight").
"xXx: The Return of Xander Cage" will come to cinemas on January 2017.
